A trip to Amsterdam

One of my goals for this year is to travel more, so it was fitting that before the first month of 2018 was out, I took my first trip abroad to Amsterdam. I spent Monday consulting with an really inspiring organisation and my husband and I took the opportunity to spend the weekend in the city together, without the kids, we had a ball.

We had a really great couple of days getting to know the city. We had some delicious meals and I really adored the ‘gingerbread’ houses that line the canals. We ‘did’ the Van Gogh. My goodness was he an inspiring man. What dedication to his craft. It made me want to pick up a pencil and draw!

 

Yesterday was intense, exhausting and thoroughly productive. It was so inspiring to work with such a creative, inspirational and collaborative team. And so interesting to see the differences in culture between the Dutch way of working and our ‘heads down’ approach over here. Team lunch anyone?

It was also a really timely reminder of exactly why I wrote Brand Brilliance. Because understanding precisely what it is you want to be known for, why you do what you do and why it matters is at the very heart of finding the clarity in your brand. And only once you have that clarity can you properly create a powerful brand that will work for your unique business.


Another timely reminder for me, was the wonderful work of Simon Sinek and his Ted Talk, Start with Why. If you haven’t watched this already, I suspect it will blow your mind. If you know of Simon and would enjoy a refresh, enjoy. It’s 18 minutes that will be really, really well spent.
